Letter below from November 27, 2024
Dear Matthew 10 Family,
It is with a somber yet hope-filled heart that I let you all know that on Monday, November 25th, Dr. Pete was diagnosed with what appears to be a form of brain cancer. Last week he began having difficulty with his speech and articulating his thoughts. After talking with his brother on Monday, he decided to go into the hospital for some scans. The doctors told him he had a 5x5x3cm glioblastoma tumor within the part of his brain that affects his speech.
There is only one thing that can prepare anyone for news like this — an unshakable hope in the goodness of God and living with eternity at the forefront of their mind. More than anyone I know, Pete lives according to a heavenly perspective. I’ve heard him talk about it almost every week for three and a half years. I spoke with him yesterday and the entire Sulack family has the peace of Christ that surpasses their understanding. From Heaven’s perspective, He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. From Heaven’s perspective, this is just a tumor.
We have a confident expectation for Pete’s complete healing. After all, God has healed so many people over the last twenty years through Pete’s surrendered life. Believe it or not, he woke up early on Tuesday morning and preached to yet another crowd in Ghana where hundreds more gave their hearts to Jesus. Who does that the day after being diagnosed with brain cancer? He does. All he thinks about is one more person spending eternity with his Jesus. Truly, no one but God can measure the untold millions of souls who will spend eternity in Heaven because of Dr. Pete’s unstoppable passion to make the Name of Jesus known among the lost. Pete is only 48 years old — we all know there is still so much work left for him to do on this side of Heaven.
It’s time to rally for the entire Sulack family. Right now, Dr. Pete and his family are quickly deciding next steps and treatment plans and we want to come alongside them in two ways:
First, by lifting them all up in prayer. Stephanie said, “the enemy doesn’t realize what he’s done — an army of prayer warriors have been awakened and my God is bigger than this.” Amen. We are rallying an army of prayer warriors for Dr. Pete. To receive regular updates and specific prayer requests, please opt in below to join Dr. Pete’s Victory Prayer Team.
Second, by supporting them financially during this time. Stephanie also mentioned that Pete was quite emotional yesterday, not because he was fearful, but because he felt overwhelmed by everyone’s love and support. I want him to feel that way every day. I can’t think of a better way for us to love and support Pete during this time than through prayer and abundantly covering everything they need. Pete and Stephanie have poured out their lives and resources for the benefit of others. Their unbelievable generosity has paved the way for so many to encounter the love and goodness of God. Matthew 10:8 is not a tagline for them — It’s their way of life and their greatest joy in obeying Jesus. “Freely, you’ve received the generosity of the Kingdom, so freely release it to others.” How beautiful would it be for Pete to be on the receiving end of Matthew 10:8?
As of today, the Sulacks are preparing to travel to one of three hospitals in the US to undergo further testing to determine their next steps. As you can imagine, they are about to incur significant expenses for travel and medical bills. We created this landing page to invite people to help them with these needs. You can give to them here.
We love you all and will provide updates as appropriate.
